Our builders were fantastic and they have sorted things out with our building inspector and between them agreed we could do "normal" foundations however it meant going down about 10 feet for the majority of them. Some of them are a bit less so Rich could just see over the top of the shallower ones.... it does mean that we have loads of earth/clay to get rid of - lorry loads and loads and loads and loads... it is free to a good home if anyone wants someSalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00118190604061010561noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7602133280125885701.post-63920665349474010622010-06-27T21:00:00.004+01:002010-06-27T21:31:24.475+01:00The builders arrive
Bit of a delay in posting all this but here is what has been happening:
the builders arrived on site with their machinery ready to get started. This meant purchasing and erecting 240ft of fencing and that a wall of limestone and brick to the sum of 48ft had to be built - however this was actually double that length because it had to be built up both our side and the neighbours side.

The rims against the fence are old cartwheels that we are going to use in the garden in the futureSalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00118190604061010561noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7602133280125885701.post-59768663747649106562010-05-02T18:34:00.002+01:002010-05-02T19:01:45.363+01:00Moving OutWe sold our house and the completion date was the 17 December 2009. Over the week or two leading up to it, we put all our effects into storage just keeping the minimum that we would need to live in the caravan (together with my essential scrapbooking stash). The caravan had already been put on site at Greenhill Leisure Park. We moved out on the 16 December and got to the caravan at 10.55pm just in time as the gate closes at 11.00pm!

This now meant there was only minimal housework to be done - mmm this does have its pluses :):)Salhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00118190604061010561noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7602133280125885701.post-83035503818670788912010-05-02T18:25:00.003+01:002010-05-02T18:34:46.662+01:00Planning PermissionAlthough we were buying the barn with planning permission, it was due to run out in 6 months time and for our mortgage we needed a minimum of 2 years on it. This meant a delay in purchase as the family we were buying it from had to re-apply for planning permission and before they could do this a bat survey and flood risk assessment had to be obtained. Luckily the only batty thing on site was me and the flood risk was low so the planning permission went in and was officially granted on the 14 December 2009.Salhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00118190604061010561noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7602133280125885701.post-50013797775544343282010-05-02T18:21:00.002+01:002010-05-02T18:25:04.330+01:00The ProcessOK, I havent done anything like this before so please bear with me.
